A surveyor’s life is rarely dull. One minute it’s a Grade II* listed 18th Century windmill, the next, an expansion project for an international airport – all in a days work!
Sutton Mill is one of the tallest remaining windmills in the UK. It was built in 1789 with 8 floors and following a fire in 1861 a ninth floor was added. The windmill and adjacent granary building which is also listed are currently being refurbished. When work is completed on the mill and the cap reinstated it will once again be just under 25 metres high. DCP is delighted to be providing Project Monitoring services on the project.
So, from a listed building of the 18th century we come bang up-to-date with a project for Norwich Airport Ltd where we were appointed to provide Employer’s Agent services on a scheme to expand facilities on the airport site at Horsham St Faith.
This £5.5m development will see the construction of a new 5,087m² aircraft hangar together with a new 1,440m² workshop facility and all associated external works. DCP is working with contractors MJS Projects (March) Ltd on the project which commenced on site late 2019. Completion is scheduled for November this year.
