Celebrating our new Impact Ambassador
20 October 2026
We are delighted to announce that Sean Burnett‑Kiernan, a Quantity Surveyor at DCP has been chosen as an Impact Ambassador for the flagship Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC/ Construction East Impact Ambassador Programme, helping to inspire and support the next generation of built environment professionals.
The pilot programme is a regional initiative that will connect experienced and enthusiastic young professionals from across the built environment with college student studying T-levels. The programme, aims to bridge the construction skills gap, promote alternative industry pathways, and inspire and support the next generation of built environment professionals.
As part of initiative, Sean will mentor students at West Suffolk College, providing valuable insight into real-world construction projects from design and sustainability to risk management and project delivery. He is the first of a growing network of more than 20 ambassadors from leading companies in East Anglia.
Louise Reeve, Impact Ambassador Programme Lead and Trustee at Construction East, said: “Sean was the first person to put his hand up and join us as an Impact Ambassador, which was a brilliant start for the programme. The whole idea is about bringing industry and education closer together and giving young people access to people who can share real experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for construction. Having Sean involved from the outset, and Daniel Connal Partnership supporting him to take part, is exactly the kind of industry commitment we hoped the programme would generate.”
From Apprentice to Quantity Surveyor
Sean joined DCP as our first apprentice in 2018, graduating with a 2:1 in Quantity Surveying from Anglia Ruskin University in 2023. In his time with us, Sean has made significant contributions to the company including championing our embodied carbon assessment service.
Commenting on his new role, Sean said: “Coming through the degree apprenticeship programme at DCP has made me a strong supporter of practical, experience‑led training routes. The construction industry is facing a significant skills gap, and we all have a role in addressing it. By becoming a CTEC and Construction East Impact Ambassador, I hope to contribute to developing future talent and give young people a clearer, more informed route into the sector.”
Sean’s selection reflects both his personal commitment to the industry and DCP’s ongoing dedication to nurturing future talent.
DCP Championing Skills and Education
Robert Dale, Senior Partner at Daniel Connal Partnership, said: “The scale of the skills challenge facing construction cannot be underestimated. As businesses, we have a role to play alongside Government and education providers by sharing our knowledge and giving young people meaningful experience.
“Sean is a great example of what investing in people can achieve. The Impact Ambassador programme also fits perfectly with the work we are doing through the Juniper Foundation to invest in skills and help build a strong pipeline of construction professionals for the future.”
We’re very proud to see Sean stepping forward into this ambassadorial role and looking foward to seeing the positive impact he will make in encouraging young people to pursue rewarding careers in the construction sector.
