DCP is delighted to have been appointed as Contract Administer and Quantity Surveyor on the development of a brownfield site in Chelmsford – formerly Burrows Electrical Wholesalers – for South East Property Developers II Ltd.
Designed by Arcady Architects, the £2m mixed use development will create three new commercial/retail units on the ground floor of the site with 14 executive-style two bedroom apartments on the upper floors, together with associated recycling and refuse collection points, cycle store and car parking. The contractor on the project is Horizon Construction.
As with many city centre developments, the former Burrows Electrical Wholesalers’ site is constrained and surrounded by businesses and residential units all of which will remain occupied and active during the build. An added excitement prior to work starting on site was the necessity of a UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) Report, required because of the heavy bombardment Chelmsford suffered during WW2. We are delighted to report that no hidden nasties were discovered.
Work at the Railway Street site started in September and is due for completion in Autumn 2020.
