Project Overview
Project: Renovation & Refurbishment Scheme to Create New Community Hub
Client: YMCA Norfolk
Contract value: £2m
Daniel Connal Partnership was appointed to provide project management and quantity surveying services on this scheme for the charity YMCA Norfolk.
The project saw the complete renovation and rejuvenation of a rundown former British Legion Hall, which had been vacant for a number of years.
YMCA Community Hub, Norwich
We worked closely with the client, the designers, award winning architects, LSi, and contractors, Cocksedge, to repurpose and refurbish the disused building to provide an exciting and usable space for the benefit of the local community.
The new building offers a warm and welcoming environment for people of all ages. The facilities include a community café, a soft-play centre, and a 90 place Ofsted registered nursery. There are also multi-use spaces for youth and community groups as well as administration offices for the client, who has relocated to the hub from another site.
The project was successfully completed under the challenging conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
We were delighted when the scheme was recognised with the Refurbishment Award at the national 2022 Built Environment Awards, and was also shortlisted for the Eastern Region RICS Awards 2022 in the Community Benefit Category.
