The Stewards Academy in Harlow wished to improve its facilities to extend the range of sporting opportunities available to both pupils and the wider community.
Daniel Connal Partnership was appointed on behalf of Ball Hall (Project Management) Ltd as Employer’s Agent on this project, which was procured under a Design and Build Contract through a competitive single stage route. We also provided Principal Designer Services (CDM2015) for the pre-contract phase of the scheme.

The project delivered a 4 badminton court, single storey multi-use sports hall with specialist timber sprung flooring, a fitness suite and ancillary areas including changing facilities and a new reception.
As the school remained operational throughout the build, and access to the site was across the playground and staff car park, student & staff safety was of paramount importance.
Measures implemented by DCP and close liaison with both the client & contractor ensured that the project was completed safely with minimal disruption to the school.
At the opening ceremony Headteacher, Rhonda Murthar said, ‘Stewards Sports Hall will enable us to provide indoor PE lessons during wet weather and provide a broader range of sports such as basketball and badminton to appeal more widely to young people.’
