South Forest Centre, Leytonstone
Project Overview
Project: Refurbishment & redecoration scheme
Client: NELFT
Contract value: £290k
The South Forest Centre is a Talking Therapies Centre in Leytonstone, East London, run by the North East London (NHS) Foundation Trust (NELFT).
Located in large Victorian villas adjacent to a Grade II listed gatehouse and chapel, NELFT, wished to refurbish the facilities and undertake minor reconfiguration works, whilst respecting the grand staircase and elegant room proportions in the building.
Daniel Connal Partnership was appointed to provide a complete range of services on this project – project management, contract administration, principal designer and architectural design – delivering a ‘one stop shop’ for NELFT.
The scheme included provision of glazing to the existing reception area, new lighting, flooring and re-decoration throughout the building together with a kitchen fit-out and installation of two staff showers and an anti-ligature patient WC.

This is the second project we have carried out for NELFT on the South Forest site having also completed the installation of security fencing and automatic gates; a project which required us to secure Listed Building Consent.
In that instance our proactive liaison with the Planning Department, Conservation Officer and Arboriculturalist ensured the plans were in line with Waltham Forest’s desire to protect its heritage buildings and the mature trees which aligned the site boundary. This approach resulted in a successful outcome for the application allowing the works to progress.
