BARN COMPLEX CONVERSION, KETTLESTONE
Project: Restoration, refurbishment & conversion of barn complex
Client: Handelsbanken
Services provided: Project Monitoring
Contract value: £1m
This project involved the complete restoration and refurbishment of a derelict barn complex situated in a conservation area, and adjacent to a grade II listed manor house. The sympathetic conversion, using traditional materials and detailing, created four new dwellings.
DCP acted as the bank’s monitoring surveyor on this scheme which was subject to two development finance agreements to reflect the phasing of the project as the four barns were converted.
As well as undertaking monthly valuations for financial drawdowns, DCP monitored the satisfaction and amendment of planning conditions as the developer made changes to the initial permitted scheme to maximise sale potential.
The project went on to win NNDC’s Graham Allen Award, which celebrates excellence in design and conservation in the built environment.
