80th Anniversary Afternoon Tea

18 September 2026

The Dorchester, Park Lane, London

What a truly wonderful afternoon!

When we began planning the celebrations for our 80th Anniversary, we wanted something and somewhere that would be truly memorable.  A play on words, “an 8-Tea Party”, started the ball rolling and ultimately led us to an absolutely splendid Champagne Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester, attended by more than 100 guests.

It could not have been a better setting, or excuse if one were needed, to bring together colleagues, clients and friends to celebrate in style and mark this significant milestone in the Daniel Connal Partnership story.

Our celebrations started with a champagne reception, in the magnificently wood panelled Holford Room.  Senior Partner, Robert Dale’s welcome speech, reflected on DCP’s remarkable journey over the past eight decades while also looking forward to with excitement to everything that the future holds.

We then moved into the Orchid Room for the much anticipated main event – afternoon tea – which did not disappoint!

Our guests were treated to a fabulous selection of finger sandwiches followed by warm scones (light as a feather!), clotted cream and seasonal preserves.   These in turn prepared the way for the triumphant arrival, on tiered stands, of the prettiest french pastries!

Nothing demonstrates our heritage and longevity better than the range of guests in attendance.  Amongst long-standing clients, fellow consultants and colleagues ere former Partners Neil Clark and John Bainbridge, who joined DCP in 1960, alongside Frederick Podd and Jacob Saward, our most recent apprentices, who started with us on 7 September 2026.

Spanning more than six decades of our history, they embody both the values and traditions that have shaped DCP and the ambition and talent that will carry us forward.  Not a bad way for Fred and Jacob to round off their first week at work!

Our sincere thanks go to The Dorchester for looking after us so wonderfully, and to Phil Barnes for capturing the joy and good humour of the afternoon so beautifully through his photography.
