DCP’s 8 Hour Canoe Challenge

13 July 2026

Daniel Connal Partnership’s 8-hour Canoe Challenge for Headway!

Huge congratulations to our Norwich team who swapped their pens for paddles to take on an 8-hour endurance canoe challenge, raising a tremendous £850 for Headway, the charity dedicated to improving life after brain injury.

On one of the hottest days of the year so far, it certainly wasn’t all plain sailing (forgive the pun). The team paddled their way from Aylsham to Wroxham on the river Bure, tackling a route that included 4 porterage points which gave the team plenty of opportunity to flex their muscles, as they carried their canoes between navigable sections of the river – much to the fascination of the local wildlife.

Reflecting on the day, Robert Dale, Senior Partner, said “What a fantastic day had by the team; encouraging each other, helping each other, a different type of working hard and lots of laughing together.”

Why Headway?

Did you know that every 90 seconds, someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury. Its impact can be sudden, life-changing and long-lasting. Headway provides vital support to help survivors and their families rebuild their lives after brain injury.

It is also a charity that holds a special place in DCP’s heart.  Our late and much missed Senior Partner, Bob Juniper, served as a dedicated trustee of Headway Essex for many years, giving his time, expertise and unwavering support to the charity’s work.  And, of course, a fantastic example of one of our core values to ‘above and beyond’, not only at work but by actively contributing to and supporting the wider community.

Robert Dale said, “We’re proud to be celebrating DCP’s 80th anniversary by supporting a charity that means so much to our team. This challenge honours the legacy of Bob Juniper and reflects our ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.”

80 Acts of Good

This challenge is just one of the ways we are celebrating our 80th Anniversary this year.  It is part of our wider 80 Acts of Good programme – which encourages colleagues to use their individual and collective talents to make a positive difference and give back to their communities.
