With the sun sparkling on the Stour, the weather could not have been nicer for Daniel Connal Partnership’s celebration of Spring and St George’s Day breakfast.
Le Talbooth in Dedham was again the beautiful setting for this annual event. Spring was definitely in the air, with the warmth of the sun echoing the warmth of the mood as guests enjoyed coffee on the terrace following a delicious breakfast.
Partner, Jonathan Dennis, welcomed our guests and toasted, ‘St George and the Season of Spring’, before getting down to the more serious matter of announcing the winner of the DCP Poetry Competition. A response in verse to the breakfast invitation.
As always we had some brilliant entries, but congratulations this year to Nicholas Jacob, of Nicholas Jacob Architects, who penned the winning poem:
Having put up with snow and the freezing rain,
An invite to breakfast whilst sipping champagne
Is a pleasure one never should pass or distain.
So spread out the fare and I’ll be there
To toast St George and sing this refrain:
“Sing Hey! to St George our patron saint,
Whose valour is legend, ‘oft depicted in paint.
Sing Hi! to our hosts (mean hearted they ain’t)
For giving a party where friends re-aquaint.”
