Hazy sunshine sparkling on the water, a lovely warm breeze and soft sand underfoot – if you squinted (quite hard) Frinton could almost have been the Med! It was certainly a lovely afternoon for some competitive sandcastle building.
The theme this year was to create a sandcastle to mark Daniel Connal Partnership’s 70th Anniversary – we really have been around that long!
And contestants, we are proud of you all!
Imagination, design, flair, innovative use of items ‘found’ on the beach and very vigorous spade work created some brilliant sandcastles – any of which were worthy of a trophy.
But an anniversary, particularly a 70th one, should be celebrated with a bang and some bubbles, and it was the fizzing bottle of champagne sandcastle, that caught the Judge’s eye. Congratulations to the team from Purcell, who bagged not only the stylish new Sandcastle Competition Trophy and also took home their very own bottles of ‘fizz’ to enjoy.
Traditional seaside Fish & Chips (and slightly less traditional, but still yummy, chocolate ‘anniversary cake’) finished off a wonderful afternoon in the Essex sunshine.
Many thanks to everyone who took part and made it such a fantastic & fun event.
