Roofing works re-start at Cromer Pier
Following a slightly extended interval, we are delighted that our re-roofing project at the Pavilion Theatre on Cromer Pier is gearing up to re-start.
The programme to replace the flat roof coverings and the distinctive zinc covered barrel roofs on the flanks of the theatre had paused initially to accommodate the busy winter Panto season. Works should have re-started in March, but …. global pandemics are no respecters of building programmes, so there has been a bit more of a break than we anticipated!
However, preparations to get the contractors back on site are well underway, with the pre-start meeting taking place last week – an atmospheric occasion, by all accounts. Partner, John Read, reported it to have been one of the ‘strangest’ meetings he’d ever chaired. “Out on the theatre terrace, socially distanced, above the waves and under a thick blanket of fog! But we are delighted to be getting the project back on track.”
Working with North Norfolk District Council, Daniel Connal Partnership are providing Design, Principal Designer, Contract Administration and Project Manager services for the re-roofing scheme, part of a larger regeneration project for the popular tourist destination. The contractor is Reeve Property Restoration.
Re-visiting Cromer today to check up on another project at the District Council offices, we got a slightly sunnier snap!
