ST PETER’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
Project: Classroom Extension & Remodelling (Phases 1 & 2)
Client: London Borough of Havering
Services provided: Quantity Surveying, Employer’s Agent
Contract Value: £1.5m
The London Borough of Havering wanted to expand facilities at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Romford to provide additional classroom, toilets and ancillary space to meet an increase in demand for school places.
Budget constraints necessitated a phased development. Daniel Connal Partnership were appointed as Quantity Surveyors on Phase 1 of the scheme which provided one additional classroom and group work room.
On Phase 2, which was undertaken in the following financial year, DCP was engaged as Employer’s Agent. This phase, procured under a Design & Build Contract, was significantly larger. The Borough required the contractor to deliver a single storey extension providing 2 classrooms and a double storey extension providing 6 classrooms, within its prescribed budget, together with an additional studio area extension should there be sufficient funds remaining in the budget.
The client was very pleased that the project was brought in under budget and the school was delighted that the additional studio area, to which they had aspired, was also delivered within the scheme.
