The client instructed Daniel Connal Partnership to help resolve a long-running issue of damp penetration to their first floor conference room.
The affected area was at ceiling level, running along the abutment with the external wall.
Our initial inspection suggested that the likely reason for this damp ingress was defective parapet walls to the flat roof panels. Use of a ‘cherry-picker’ enabled detailed examination of the suspect area and we were able to confirm that poor flashing/cavity tray detailing together with incorrect coping stone detailing were responsible for the internal defects.
Our comprehensive Inspection Report incorporated a schedule of remedial works together with approximate costings, which the client was able to use when getting quotations from contractors for the repair work. The successful contractor completed the work in line with our approximate costings.
