Project: Relocation of Older Persons’ Services & Refurbishment of Existing Administration Facilities
Client: North East London NHS Foundation Trust
Services provided: Project Management, Architectural Design, Contract Administration, CDM Services
Contract value: £100k
The Daniel Connal Partnership was commissioned to undertake the design, specification, tendering and contract administration for the relocation of ‘Older Persons’ Services to Goodmayes Hospital. This department provides community mental health services to people aged 65 and over with serious and/or enduring mental health problems; depression, anxiety, schizophrenia. It also serves people aged 18 and over suffering from complex cognitive disorders.
The consolidation of the services in one centre included the refurbishment of the existing administration and activity hall , the creation of a new Reception area including a DDA compliant desk, a clinic, dirty utility, and shower with sterile wall cladding.
The design team at Daniel Connal was able to interpret the brief and provide further options for increasing the capacity of the admin department, realising valuable additional space within the constraints of the Victorian building.
Operating in a challenging live environment, the DCP team ensured that the works in the occupied building were phased to minimise disruption to the administration staff, enabling uninterrupted provision of services to patients during the development.
Daniel Connal Partnership was delighted when the completed works successfully met the Client’s required health and safety standards, receiving an ‘Excellent’ on inspection.
