LITTLE HEATH FOUNDATION SCHOOL
Project: New sixth form block with life skills kitchen facility for children with learning difficulties
Client: London Borough of Redbridge
Services provided: Architectural Design
Contract value: £1m
The Daniel Connal Partnership worked in partnership with the Principal Contractor in the design and construction of a new sixth form block including ‘life skills’ kitchen facilities for children with learning difficulties, at Little Heath School
DCP was commissioned to provide architectural services for the development of the initial planning application (RIBA Stage 3) to the construction and completion of the building (RIBA Stage 6).
The design team at Daniel Connal presented improved, value engineered designs to the school and, once agreed, progressed the design information delivering working drawings, specifications, room data sheets and construction details within a very tight timescale and budget restrictions.
During the construction phase the Daniel Connal design team were able to adapt and provide information rapidly as site constraints required the alteration of some aspects of the design.
Daniel Connal Partnership, performing the role of lead consultant, successfully worked in a co-ordinated and productive manner with both the contractor and other consultants throughout the project. Our ongoing discussions with the planning authorities provided assurance that any design amendments would satisfy the local authority’s requirements and ensured that no untimely delays ensued.
The design team at Daniel Connal consulted widely to ensure the School’s requirements were fully understood and using their experience and creativity ensured the completed scheme met the expectations and requirements of the Academy’s stakeholders.
