LARKSWOOD CENTRE, THORPE COMBE HOSPITAL
Project: Re-configuration & Refurbishment of Grade II Listed Mental Health Facility
Client: North East London NHS Foundation Trust
Services provided: Project Management, Architectural Design, Contract Administration, CDM Services
Contract value: £60k
The Daniel Connal Partnership was commissioned by NELFT to design and administer a building contract to re-configure and refurbish the Larkswood Centre at Thorpe Coombe Hospital, which provides mental health services for residents in North East London. DCP also co-ordinated Health and Safety matters on the project which was completed while the drug and mental health facility remained fully operational.
Pre refurbishment, the appearance of the Larkswood Centre was outdated and worn. The Design Team were able to revitalise the look of the centre, delivering proposals and solutions for an attractive and DDA compliant Reception Area.
Collaborating closely with the end user they were also able to re-model an existing Dirty Utility Room, a vital part of any hospital or healthcare facility, to fully comply with HTM64.
The challenging live environment placed considerable constraints on access and the team at Daniel Connal Partnership worked creatively to put in place procedures which enabled the contractors to work around staff and patients providing a sensible solution with all onsite activities monitored throughout the project.
The Daniel Connal Partnership exceeded the Client’s requirements and expectations whilst delivering a modernised practical facility on time and under budget.
