Daniel Connal Partnership was appointed by the Harwich Haven Authority to undertake energy assessments at three significant buildings which form part of their estates portfolio, supporting the thriving commercial port of Harwich.
Pilot House, providing storage and accommodation for the pilot boat crews, was constructed in the early 2000s. Harbour House accommodates office space and a repair shop for Harwich Haven and was built in 1974. Navigation House is the control/operations centre for the Haven Authority. It was also built in 1974 with a top floor extension added in 1990.
The client wanted to quantify and understand the energy efficiency of their estates portfolio as part of an ongoing improvement and planned maintenance programme.
DCP undertook external thermography surveys of each of the buildings to assist in providing an accurate and detailed report of the energy efficiency of the buildings. This report has given the client a complete picture of how the buildings are performing and suggests measures to improve their energy efficiency. The report will inform Harwich Haven Authority’s future planned maintenance schedules.
