MODULAR OFFICE & WAREHOUSE DEVELOPMENT
Project: New build modular office & warehouse facility
Client: BH Bus Industrial Tools
Services provided: Quantity Surveyors
Contract value: Undisclosed
BH Bus Industrial Tools is a privately owned Dutch company, supplying equipment to both on and off-shoe industries. Previously operating out of leased accommodation in Great Yarmouth, BH Bus wished to develop their own facility to support their planned expansion in the UK.
DCP were appointed as quantity surveyors on a development for BH Bus to provide a 2000m² office and warehouse, with associated car parking, storage and delivery yards, working alongside the Paul Robinson Partnership and Rossi Long Consulting.
Of particular note on this project was the modular form of construction. Chosen particularly to facilitate a very speedy build.
The development site at South Denes Business Park in Great Yarmouth, benefits from close proximity to the town’s deep water outer harbour – a key factor in this scheme.
Taking advantage of the location, the warehouse/office building shell and core were manufactured in the Netherlands by the client’s directly engaged contractor, BOMA Staalbouw.
To expedite a rapid start-on-site, DCP helped the client select the UK contractor, Munnings Construction, on the basis of a Bill of Approximate Quantities prepared on assumed detail design and specification as well as a qualitative assessment of the ability and flexibility of the contractor to work under the proposed arrangements.
The pre-fabricated structure – which included pre-fabricated foundations was shipped across the North Sea and erected on site in just 16 weeks.
