BARN CONVERSION REFURBISHMENT, SUFFOLK
Project: Refurbishment of Grade II listed Barn Conversion
Client: Private Client
Services provided: Quantity Surveying
Contract value: Undisclosed
This brick gabled, Grade II Listed timber framed threshing barn was originally converted to residential use in the 1980s. Built in the early 18th Century with later brick extensions, the work carried out in 1980s had seen the loss of a number of original features – most notably breaking up the main barn into smaller areas – and the introduction of some elements which detracted from the original character of the building, both internally and externally.
This new refurbishment project has successfully reinstated the main barn as a single uninterrupted space, rectified the poor quality of some of the earlier conversion works and enhanced the energy performance and future sustainability of the building, with the introduction of thermally efficient materials.
