The Writers’ Centre in Norwich is a cultural centre dedicated to creative writing, hosting a wide range of activities including talks, workshops and festivals. It is based in Dragon Hall, Norwich, a Grade I Listed medieval merchants’ trading hall dating back to 1430, set close to the River Wensum.
The Daniel Connal Partnership undertook an access audit on the building and design proposals for the development of the medieval building into the National Centre for Writing. The access audit was required by the Arts Council as part of the centre’s bid for National Lottery funding.
The audit considered how the scheme to develop the centre to provide educational and community spaces, enhanced office space and technical facilities and a lecture and performance auditorium might be accessible to a variety of users within the constraints of this historic Grade 1 Listed building.
