Daniel Connal Partnership was appointed on behalf of our partners Ball Hall Ltd as Employer’s Agent on this project at The Academy of Sport and Wellbeing, Perth College, University of the Highlands and Islands. The architect on the scheme was Clague LLP and the main contractor Dixons Ltd.
The ambitious scheme saw the construction of a multi-use six badminton court sports hall, with seating for 400, which has the flexibility to convert into a graduation or event venue.
A competition standard Category 1 Climbing Chamber is also accommodated within the sports hall together with a fitness studio, a strength and conditioning room, dance studio and changing facilities.
The new Hair & Beauty Department benefits from a hair salon, treatment rooms, three large beauty therapy suites, classrooms, training rooms, staff rooms and offices.
One of the main challenges on this scheme was the restricted construction timeframe.
The project’s successful completion, just 12 months after the first turfs were cut, reflected the efforts of all involved to meet the very tight deadlines and enable both the new sports curriculum and courses for the hair and beauty students to start at the beginning of the school year.
