Make do and Mend?
Not in North Norfolk where fundraising for an ambitious £3m project to upgrade and overhaul the historic Wells Maltings is well underway.
The major re-development of the much loved 200 year old building on Staithe Street will preserve the original brick and flint structure and provide a first rate cultural and community facility for the local population and visitors to the North Norfolk coastal town alike.
Heritage Lottery Funding
Receipt of Heritage Lottery Funding is key to the success of the project and Daniel Connal Partnership was delighted to assist the Wells Maltings Trust with expert cost advice to support Stage 1 of their Heritage Lottery Funding bid of £1.84m towards the cost of the development.
DCP has since been appointed as Quantity Surveyors on the project which is currently going through Stage 2 of the Heritage Lottery Funding process, with a decision expected later this year.
The Heritage and Learning Centre, designed by Ugly Studios, will incorporate both temporary and permanent exhibition spaces with the emphasis on an interactive visitor experience. This will include the intriguingly titled ‘Wells Automata’, a Victorian-esque creation telling different stories depending on which levers or wheels are operated by visitors.
Daniel Connal Partnership is very proud to be involved with this ambitious and exciting community project.
