H is for Health Sector
Now, more than ever, the National Health Service is at the forefront of our collective consciousness. To everyone working under its banner in these trying times, you are doing a tremendous job – we salute you.
The NHS isn’t just the people, of course, it’s also the buildings and facilities which enable the healthcare professionals and support staff to function effectively and to provide the best service possible to the end user – the patient.
At DCP we are extremely proud of our longstanding links with the health sector. Over the years we have worked on numerous schemes with healthcare providers, helping them to achieve the right environments to care for their patients.
These developments range from minor alteration and refurbishment schemes to major capital projects – hospitals to care homes. We work hard in consultation with healthcare trusts and other health sector clients, to understand exactly what they require and to secure the best value for money possible. While the schemes have been varied, one thing they all share is our commitment to provide outstanding service.
But in the current situation there are a couple of projects that particularly stand out for us:
The first is a former care home where we provided project monitoring services. At the moment it is being prepared to provide 40 temporary care beds for patients well enough to be discharged from hospital, but who still need support before returning to their homes, including those recovering from Covid-19. This new facility will help alleviate pressure on local hospitals, freeing up beds for those in greater need.
The second is the isolation ward at the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston. This alteration and refurbishment scheme created space to accommodate 22 patients, in 3 four bed bays, a two-bed ward and eight single side rooms all with en suite facilities. A roof-top plant room provided a pressure control system to regulate air flow to create isolation for infection controI. This is not a recent project, it’s not the highest value scheme which we’ve ever undertaken, nor even the most complicated, but at the moment it’s where the biggest battles are being fought.
