And they’re off!
St Giles Circus was awash with lycra yesterday as 190 cyclists, on the Legal & General Club Peloton #cycletoMIPIM ride, started out on their epic 1,500 km journey from central London to Cannes – our very own Simon Jacklin among them.
Hours of training, covering miles on roads (actual) and roads (virtual) spinning at the local gym, have all been building to this and we wish Simon and all the other riders the very best for their ride over the next 5 days.
May the hills be small, the sun shine and the wind be always at their backs!
Simon is raising funds for Coram http://www.coram.org.uk/, a children’s charity established in 1739 by philanthropist Thomas Coram. The charity’s work today, in supporting children and young people, is as vital as ever.
The report back from day 1 of the ride was very positive – excellent cycling conditions and only mildly aching arms (something to do with braking??). Long may it continue!
If you would like to help Simon reach his target of raising £3,000 for Coram, it’s not too late. His sponsorship page is https://my.race-nation.co.uk/sponsorship/entry/132263
