Sports Halls Built for Less
Affordable Sports Halls
Having worked on around forty Ball Hall sports hall projects through to completion, we have consistently found that Ball Halls are built at significantly lower costs per m2 than similar sports halls from other providers. There are a number of reasons:-
- Our sports halls are designed from the inside out. The first priority is to achieve the user’s functional requirements, concentrating on those elements that make a real difference to the athletes and competitors eg lighting, sprung floors and the equipment itself.
- Ball Hall uses specialist suppliers and partners for these important elements and is able to achieve cost advantages through established relationships. By managing the supply chain and bringing partners in at early in the design stages we have found buildability and co-ordination problems, and therefore cost, are minimized.
- The team that has designed and built these forty sports halls fully understand the required standards and designs. Strong working relationships with the key specialist supplier/subcontractor partners have been fostered and developed.
- This philosophy, established on basic schemes works, equally well on more complicated developments:
For example, the sports hall at Windsor is on a prominent and historic site. The team were able to design a sports hall with a curved roof, structural glazing to the front elevation and aesthetics that were sympathetic to the surrounding buildings, and have still achieved a cost effective solution.
The SportsDock at the University of East London (UEL) is a major development for East London’s communities. In addition to providing excellent sports facilities for students and local residents, this complex and large development includes a café, dance studio, three lecture theatres, classrooms and large office spaces.
Other Ball Halls also offer beauty therapy suites, fitness studios or state of the art climbing walls.
But it’s not just about cost.
Ball Hall have a specialist sports knowledge and understanding of Governing Body requirements including England Basketball, England Netball and Badminton England so the minimum standards required by the competitors of each sport will not be overlooked and there is no unneccesary limit to the level of competition that can be played in the halls.
