St George’s Day Breakfast
For over thirty five years the Daniel Connal Partnership has celebrated England’s Patron Saint on St George’s Day in Spring. The breakfast, which is by invitation only, is traditionally held at Le Talbooth, Dedham, Essex. You can find out about our 2019 event here.
When we had to forego our St George’s Day breakfast in 2020, we thought it would be a one off. Sadly, the Covid-19 restrictions mean that this year’s event has also fallen victim to the virus. However, we couldn’t let the date go by without marking the occasion, as tradition dictates, with a ‘poem’.
Our St George’s Day Breakfast, an annual treat,
couldn’t happen last year, Covid-19 had us beat!
The last 12 months have been all doom and gloom,
handwashing, distancing, quizzes on Zoom!
But things have got better, the R-rate’s improving,
we’re all being jabbed, lockdown’s end – it is looming!
And, while there is no date yet to put in your diary,
a breakfast there’ll be, maybe even a party!
Our 75th birthday, cause for celebration!
Once ‘Rona releases her hold on our nation.
So, you’ve not been forgotten, they’ll be space at the table.
We’ll raise glasses together, just as soon as we’re able.
Every summer, on Frinton Beach, we hold a sandcastle competition to give our staff, fellow consultants and clients a chance to make their design dreams become a temporary reality.
There’s always a theme. In the past it’s been – transport, a castle for Wills & Kate, an Olympic Legacy, a welcome beacon for Europe, The World Cup, a new Houses of Parliament, something to help us celebrate our 70th Anniversary. The competition is very relaxed and a chance to unwind and have some fun. In 2019 our theme was to design and build a landmark for Frinton. Guess who won?
In 2020 Covid-19 put paid to a physical competition and we went virtual. We hope 2021’s event, marking our 75th anniversary year, will be bigger and better than ever!
