January is traditionally the time for a fresh start.
New beginnings, looking forward to exciting opportunities that a new year may bring. In January 2021 these hopes for the future have an added poignancy given the challenges everyone faced in 2020. And, at the start of our third lockdown in less than 12 months, one could be forgiven for thinking that this January is less “Happy New Year” and more Groundhog Day.
It’s certainly a relief for all that the roll-out of vaccines at the start of this year, promises light at the end of what seems like an exceptionally long Covid-19 tunnel. Here at DCP, we are optimistic that when lockdown eventually eases, 2021 freedom will feel that much more special when compared to the constraints, sadness’ and disappointments of 2020.
For DCP, 2021 is a particularly important year, because we are celebrating our 75th birthday – a milestone we share with 2 former US Presidents (Bill Clinton and George W Bush), Dolly Parton and Joanna Lumley, no less.
Did you know that Daniel B Connal opened our first office in Christopher Street, EC2, London in 1946, just half a mile from where our current London office stands in Artillery Lane, E1? Or that, over the years DCP has had offices in Southend, Kettering, Leeds and Manston, Kent – a reflection of the post war building boom in industry, schools and social housing across the country. Now we are firmly established at three key locations – London, and the East of England – with our offices in Colchester and Norwich opening in 1971 and 1994 respectively, proudly serving clients across the country.
So, are we going to mark this milestone? Of course! We’re planning to mark our 75th Anniversary year with a number of exciting activities and events across the three offices, throughout the year. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our achievements to date and give something back to lay down a legacy for the future. We look forward to sharing our plans with you as the year unfolds – watch this space for updates!
