Building Ball Halls For Less

Having worked on a dozen Ball Hall projects through to completion, we have consistently found that Ball Halls are built at significantly lower costs per m2 than people are paying for similar facilities. There are a number of reasons:-
i) The sports halls are designed from the inside out. The first priority is to achieve the user’s functional requirements concentrating on the importance of those elements that make a difference to the athletes and competitors eg lighting, sprung floors and the equipment itself.
ii) Ball Hall use specialist suppliers and partners for important elements and have gained cost advantages through familiarity. Also, by managing the supply chain and bringing partners in at an early stage in the design we have found buildability and coordination problems are minimized.
iii) The team that have designed and built over a dozen Ball Halls schemes fully understand the required standards and designs. Strong working relationships with the key specialist supplier/ subcontractor partners exist.
iv) This philosophy has been taken forward even on to schemes of a more complicated nature. For example the sports hall at Windsor is on a prominent and historic site, the team were able to design a sports hall with a curved roof, structural glazing to the front elevation and aesthetics that are sympathetic to the surrounding buildings, but have still achieved a cost effective solution.
But its not just about cost. Ball Hall have a specialist sports knowledge and understanding of Governing Body requirements so the minimum standards required by the competitors of each sport will not be overlooked so there is no unneccsary limit to the level of competition that can be played in the halls.
